Tzitzicutza

I was born on: 3 September 2019

I’ve been here since: September 2021

I like: peace and quiet

I dislike: being petted on the back

I found my forever home: not yet…

This beauty’s name is Tzitzicutza and she’s one of the lonliest cats in the shelter, or so it seems. She’s been with us since 2019, after spending a bit of time in foster care, together with her kittens. They had been living on the streets, near a very busy road and the person who was feeding them asked for our help, scared for their lives.

You couldn’t say that she is shy, or scared, she just feels better alone. There are times when she joins us in the kitchen and discretely asks for her very own bowl of food and she’s very happy if we “forget” her there: at least she has the peace she is longing for!

Tzitzicuta doesn’t like at all if she’s being disturbed while eating or sleeping, but she accepts a bit of petting on the head. Her back and belly are a big no, so as long as you keep your hands where she likes it, she is fine with it. She is super quiet and you barely notice if she’s not feeling well, since most of the times she sleeps or just stays in a fluffy basket or a chair. This happened also when she had teeth problems, but thankfully we noticed fast enough that she doesn’t come anymore to the kitchen and she eats with more difficulty. Now, without teeth, she is much more happier, and pain-free.

She would be much comfortable and probably also change her behaviour if she found a loving, patient family. But the thing that bothers the most in case of a request for adoption, is that she is FIV positive. People who had such cats know that yes, they need a bit more attention and maybe, just maybe, later on, extra medical care, but that they can have long, happy, normal lives, like any other cats. And even if we know her chances are very slim, it wouldn’t be fair to Tzitzucutza if we didn’t write also her story.

Tzitzicutza is a gorgeous, rather chubby sweetheart, who most likely had a tough life on the streets. She is sometimes startled when you touch her, even if she is awake, so her trust in us is not yet full. It is true hat she definitely dislikes getting pills or any kind of treatment, but we just had to – and it seems she hasn’t forgotten that. And still, we believe she likes petting, as long as you do it according to her wishes: the head only – and don’t let yourself be fooled if she shows you the belly, it’s still a no; for a limited timed, she will tell you when to stop; when she asks for it mostly, but it’s also acceptable if you initiate it without startling her.

We admit, she’s not the easiest of cats and still, we are convinced that in the right home, with the right people, she would show more of her true personality and definitely, she would be a happy cat. Heavens know that she so deserves to go home, to be spoiled and to be loved to the moon and back! She is just 5 years old, with a whole life ahead of her, so we hope that luck will be on her side at least for once and she will be seen by a very special someone who will give her the chance she is waiting for.

Adopting a cat from our shelter can only be done through an adoption contract. Why? Because we care! The conditions imposed by the Friends of Cats Association are easy to meet when the person who wants to adopt is a responsible human being and really loves cats.

Thank you!
